Walt Abbey, PT
It has been great living and working in this community. Through our practice and managing Rehab. at SNMH we have met many wonderful patients/friends.
I have taken over a thousand hours of continuing education to maintain up-to-date treatment techniques. I enjoy the individual diversity of all our patients.
My major goal as manager/owner is top quality evidence based treatment and customer service. Our second goal is to provide a “Laughter is the Best Medicine” environment.
My wife and daughter and outdoor activities are my leisure time enjoyments.

Nick Lotze, P.T.
Thanks for inquiring and hope you come visit us if you need quality physical therapy care!
I received my degree in 1985 from the University of Utah. I started out practicing in Salt Lake City at the Latter Day Saints Hospital. From there I went to Humana in Las Vegas working with Orthopedics and then at Casa Colina Hospital working with brain injury patients. I was the Director of Physical Therapy services at Palomares skilled nursing facility in Pamona, CA.
I  started working with Walt at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in 1997 when he was the Director of Physical Therapy. His unique and positive approach to PT made a lasting impression. I was pleased to continue working with Walt in a private practice. I enjoy our professional and personal interaction as a team which we pass on to our patients.
Prior to my 25 years as a PT my endeavors include being a tour guide for Grand Canyon dories and a Sous Chef in Alta, Utah.
My hobbies include white water kayaking, telemark skiing, gypsy swing guitar and playing the Banjo.

Maria Thornton, M. p. T.
I graduated from CSUN with my Masters Degree in Physical Therapy in 2010. I worked in Pediatric Neuro-rehab in Southern California for a short time before moving back to Northern California where parents, twin brother and 7 other siblings live. I began working with Walt & Crew in 2013 and I absolutely love it! I love working with our patients to help them achieve a maximum level of function through the use of manual therapy and individualized exercise programs.
People are our #1 goal here. We believe really listening and collaborating with our patients is the most effective way to help them heal. Along with this we like to keep the environment enjoyable with laughter and maybe a joke or two from Walt & Nick.
Hobbies of mine include soccer, hiking, running and volleyball as well as spending time with family & friends.

I am the Coordinator of A&A Physical Therapy. This includes scheduling and assisting the Therapists with patients. I help keep the flow of the clinic on an even keel. My priority is to provide quality health care assistance and be a good listener.
I am a Certified Massage Therapist. Helping teach people how to heal is very rewarding.
I enjoy the field of Physical Therapy and working with patients who need guidance after surgery, injuries or just plan old aches and pains. I have had 10 knee surgeries including a total knee replacement. I understand the process!
I have lived in Nevada County for 36 years and have worked with Walt for 20 years. I have one daughter and three grandchildren who live down the hill. My family is my passion.
Throughout my life I have swam at a pre-olympic level, cycled, competed in body building, gymnastics, skied and taught water aerobics. But mostly I just had fun! I choose to live my life for kindness, joy and beauty with a caring heart and touch.

YP Reviews

We have been huge fans of A&A Physical Therapy for many years now. Our daughter has undergone several leg lengthening procedures and required many physical therapy sessions. The entire staff at A&A Physical Therapy has made us feel like family, and our daughter has progressed beyond our expectations.
